How does Clever Buoy work?
The sonar system, called Clever Buoys, are developed by Shark Mitigation Systems. They use sonar to detect the distinctive movement patterns made by sharks, and transmit a signal to alert lifeguards, who can raise the alarm warning beachgoers and swimmers. What is a shark Buoy?
The buoys float on the water and have a sensor at the bottom that can detect the 330 sharks the Conservancy tagged with a transmitter. The shark buoys were placed in specific locations because of their proximity to the busy beaches. Can sonar detect sharks?
