What happens after a performance review?

The end of a performance review merits an honest discussion. In some cases, it might be to commend an employee’s stellar performance and in some other cases, it might be to discuss an employee’s poor performance. Either way, these discussions are necessary to get the ball rolling about what happens next.
How long does performance review last?
The periods set for the review of the employee’s performance need not be too long – just long enough to be reasonable and for the employee to achieve the objective. I would suggest a minimum of four weeks and an absolute maximum of 12 weeks (how long will of course vary and depend on individual circumstances).
Are annual performance reviews outdated?
Annual Performance Reviews Aren’t Frequent Enough This is an outdated approach because employees need feedback and input on goals much more frequently. When you really think about it, employees need monthly, weekly, and possibly even daily feedback on their performance.
Can you be fired at a performance review?
Being fired out of the blue or even after getting positive performance reviews does not necessarily constitute wrongful termination. Employers are not required to give at-will employees any advance notice or warnings before firing them.
What can I do instead of performance review?
Here are seven alternatives to the dreaded annual performance review:
- Focus on accomplishments and goals.
- Have more frequent reviews.
- Get more input.
- Replace formal review with casual feedback.
- Separate feedback from compensation.
- Go digital.
- Review the review.
How often should you have a performance review?
Many companies do performance reviews as frequently as once per quarter or as far out as once every 18 months. However, most experts recommend you conduct performance reviews every 6-12 months.
