If you’ve already e-filed or mailed your return to the IRS or state taxing authority, you’ll need to complete an amended return. You can file Form 1040X through the H&R Block online and software tax preparation products or by going to your local H&R Block office. Additional fees may apply.

Why has my federal tax return not come in?

If you don’t receive your refund in 21 days, your tax return might need further review. This may happen if your return was incomplete or incorrect. The IRS may send you instructions through the mail if it needs additional information in order to process your return.

Can the IRS lose your tax return?

The IRS will hold your entire refund, including any part of your refund not associated with the EITC or ACTC. Neither TAS, nor the IRS, can release any part of your refund before that date, even if you’re experiencing a financial hardship.

Why does my refund status say still processing?

If your tax return status is “Still Being Processed” your tax return could be essentially on hold until the IRS corrects any issues and/or gets the additional information from you to continue processing your return.

What happens if you file federal tax return twice?

If you attempt to file your return twice, the IRS will reject the return and return it with an error code and explanation. The IRS typically uses error code 0515 or IND-515 to inform the sender that the taxpayer already filed a tax return for the same year using the same Social Security number.

Will I still get my federal return if my state was rejected?

Yes, the IRS will deposit your federal refund even if your state return was rejected. However, if you e-filed, you will need to fix the issues in your return and e-file again, or mail in your state return.

Is it advisable to file federal tax return again?

The IRS asks that tax payers do not send in subsequent returns – therefore e-filing again is definitely not advisable. Below is an excerpt from the IRS’s website: @Chief01

Is the federal tax refund accepted or not?

TurboTax’s page says accepted; the IRS says processing. However, I spoke with an IRS agent directly after being on hold for a bit over an hour, and they have stated that nothing has been received. The numbers are correct, and I have had no state return to file. The federal refund amount was input correctly. I filed on May 8th.

How can I find out when my federal tax return will be accepted?

You can get an estimated timeframe by tracking your federal tax return on the IRS website. After TurboTax prepares your federal tax return and you chose to e-file it, the tax return is submitted electronically to the federal government. The IRS can either accept the tax return or reject it.

When did the IRS accept my tax return?

I filed my Taxes on the 7th of February. Got an email saying the IRS accepted the return on the 12th of February. The total was $1988.00 and Turbo tax fees were deducted to make the refund $1838.00. It is now March 17th and I checked the status of the refund at the IRS and they have no record of this tax return.
