Can I let a family live in my second home rent-free? Provided that you are the owner of the second home, you can do anything you like within the confines of the law. If you choose to allow a relative or close friend use the home rent free, then you may do so.

Can you rent to your son?

The Alberta Human Rights Act does not prevent a landlord from refusing to rent an apartment to a minor. Therefore, a landlord can discriminate against a young person and not rent to them if the young person is under 18 years.
